Working for a more diverse and inclusive UITP

Recognising our gender diversity efforts

In spring 2024 we celebrated winning the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) award at the European Association Awards at a special ceremony in Brussels. The prize was awarded for UITP’s policy on gender equality, which has been in place since November 2021. We’re proud of our policy, and extremely grateful to be recognised for its achievements!

UITP is committed to advancing gender equity within public transport and our policy aims to address the imbalance that exists. We know that more needs to be done, and that public transport has historically been designed and operated predominantly by men, often neglecting the specific needs of women. Our policy aims to bridge this gap by ensuring gender parity within UITP and encouraging more women to engage with our activities.

Since its launch, UITP has eliminated manels (men-only panels), doubled the number of women speakers at our events, and achieved significant representation of women on our boards and management team. Achievements made, more to be done! Join us in our ongoing quest to diversify our sector.

Increasing engagement through the UITP members’ survey

We are pleased to report a significant increase in participation in the 2024 UITP Survey, a key foundation for our Strategic Plan, with notable improvement in the Engagement Index. Conducted every other year, the survey highlights our continuous progress in member engagement and satisfaction, reinforcing our ambition for the future.

This positive trend is a direct result of the dedication and collaboration across our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to UITP members, suppliers, customers, and our Public Transport partners for your trust and support throughout the year. Your commitment motivates us to strive for even greater achievements.
